Closed (topological) surface

Definition

A closed surface is a compact topological surface.

Properties

Any closed surface is the topological realisation of some closed combinatorial surface. (Recall - a closed combinatorial surface is finite).

Examples

Any polygon with a complete set of side identifications is a closed surface.
